Living the Path: Reflections on the call of life

Greetings Pathworkers,

The Pathwork Guide often offers questions that can unlock greater understanding and lead us into to deeper self-growth and transformation. This month’s Living the Path lecture is no exception.

Lecture 145: The Call of the Life Stream explores how we tend to identify with our ego self, ignoring that deep within us is a universal self.  It is only by activating and realizing this universal self, the Guide tells us, that we can find genuine security and peace.

To do this, we need to give up our sole trust in the ego and instead, use our ego self to activate the “universal self slumbering within.”  This involves consciously listening to the call of life that this universal center sends forth moment to moment – a call we often resist or respond to only half-heartedly or simply remain deaf to.

What is motivating you?

To answer the call of life from within, Guide asks us the following question: “Are you motivated by considerations of love and truth, and do you totally commit yourself to a course of honesty and integrity in a particular issue regardless of public opinion?”

This question points to where we can find the courage to follow our own inner values, or can be caught in a duality of submission and conformism versus rebellion and defiance.

“The call of life disregards the superficial morality most people ardently adhere to or equally ardently fight against. This is the morality based on the fear of disapproval, or it is fought against because goodness is thought to mean deprivation.”

There are many areas in our life where we can be challenged to really find and stick by what we believe in our hearts is aligned with love and truth.  Where is this true for you?

To explore these and other deep questions together with other spiritual seekers, we hope you’ll join one of our free lecture discussion groups this month.
